Eighthinch Scrambler Review

Here's my personal review of the Eightinch Scrambler V3. I purchased one from ebay, on the Wheel and Sprocket ebay page. (By the way, check out their ebay site for great deals on fixed gear wheelsets.) If you like fixed gear bikes, and don't have much money to spend on them, I highly recommend the Scrambler. A few things I noticed: 1. It comes with a seat post and pinch bolt. The Seatpost is 27.2mm size. I swapped mine out with a titanium one, the seat was a little difficult to get right, but once I set the height, it fit my body. 2. The Headset is threadless. You have to be able to cut your own fork. I used a dremmel rotating sawblade to get the job done, you may also want to try using a pipe cutter or take it to your local bike store. 3. I had a little trouble putting in the bottom bracket. It's english threaded, and for some reason the frame threads cut into the bottom bracket. I used a cheap Campagnolo Veloce, the threads ended up a little chewed up. I'll probably have a hell of a time replacing the bottom bracket, but that's another story. 4. It has Track dropouts. I used a slightly shorter chain to give the wheel enough clearance. 5. It's Chromoly. If you're used to riding steel, the ride may be a little rougher. In exchange, you receive a boost to your acceleration; it's lighter and more jumpy feeling than a steel frame. 6. The decals are not applied. They arrived in the package and were optional. To summarize, I recommend getting the Scrambler V3 - it's a great deal for the price.
