Facebook Skype Announcement

I just read the announcement that Facebook has reached a deal with Skype.

I am a little bit concerned.

Facebook itself is a pretty solid application; however, the amount of security that goes into making sure that people have private communications with Skype is not exactly rock solid.

I'm worried that people will be able to monitor Skype conversations using Facebook. Now, I realize that the majority of Skype is ridiculous, meretricious behavior - like Twitter, it's mostly personal garbage. No one cares if you're posting pictures of your cat online.

However, the principle of online anonymity keeps shrinking as technology advances. I suppose that some people would say that this is the natural course of a technological society.

Great, more cats. More constant texting and updates.

One other issue about this is the HTML5. That's the new standard (should be for at least another year or so, IMHO). I think this is sort of like flying the Concorde for the first time. Skype is a bandwidth-intensive program, it needs a robust infrastructure to be able to function.
